A global organization was formed when a group of proud Nasrani's from the Iron capital of Malankara Orthodox Church Kunnamkulam region decided to stand together in the UAE region. A Whats App group was formed with all the people showing love and affection for the Kunnamkulam culture. Later, this group was renamed as Kunnamkulam Orthodox Pravasi Association [KOPA] under the patronage of Late HH Baselious Paulose II Bava. The name 'KOPA' was suggested by H.G.Dr.Mar Yuliouse Thirumeni who hails from the Pulikkottil family from the Kunnamkulam region. An Energetic Committee was formed electing Mr. P.C Simon as President, Mr. Ginish Varghese as Secretary and Mr. Geevar Cherian as Treasurer on 6th December 2019.

The first major decision taken by the KOPA committee was to celebrate Epiphany/Pindi perunnal in the UAE region to showcase the tradition of the Kunnamkulam. The permission was granted from the Dubai church authorities. Thus history was written with the first ever 'Pindi Perunnal celebration' in the Gulf soil on 5th January 2020. The Pindi Perunnal festival was celebrated with a good number of illuminated 'Pindi' and 'Diyas' arranged beautifully along the steps spreading the luminous message of Epiphany. It was a great experience for the people in the UAE region to witness such a tradition and the committee provided "Pachor" as sacred offering. We are happy to inform you all that our global reach and active members were helping us in expanding the Epiphany celebration to Australia, Oman and so on.

The group was further expanded with the Kunnamkulam region based parish representatives from UAE region and various parts of the world. This group actively conducted Spiritual session, Bible classes and the sacred feasts of the blessed people and saints of the Malankara Orthodox Church.

Gradually, new chapters were added in various parts of the world giving the KOPA family a global reach and connectivity. Currently KOPA community is blessed with more than 300 active members spread across 20 countries across the globe.

When the pandemic restricted us from conducting meetings and study classes, virtual platforms were utilized to organize meetings and classes with the support of our Technical Committee.

The greatest strength of KOPA is the compassion, energy, support, understanding, harmony and the bonding of our community members. We firmly believe that with the showers of blessings from heaven and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit we can attain new heights spreading love, joy and kindness.
